 Payment Methods:

I no longer accept credit card payments. Cash is the preferred payment method. I will accept money order or checks if you are paying for four lessons or more, or purchasing a four lesson gift certificate if you contact me prior to the class to make arrangements. Payment is either weekly or monthly. Weekly students must cancel 24 hours before the start of a lesson or be charged for it.

Prepaid Plans:

Discounts are available for prepaying lessons in monthly plans. Payment should be made by the first of the month.

If your time slot has 5 weeks in a month, the fifth week is free. And you have until the end of the calendar month to reschedule any missed classes (instructor time permitting), not the end of the week like most music schools.

If you are starting in the middle of a month you can prepay the remaining weeks at 1/4 the monthly rate x the number of weeks remaining.

There is no penalty for rescheduling, but any lessons unused at the end of the month are lost.

Rates:

I do not publish rates online as they tend to get spidered and cached on other sites and search engines, and pop up years later when they may no longer be accurate. Please contact me for current rates and availability.

Assignment of Time slots:

If you need to switch your weekly lesson time let me know as soon as possible. If two students request the same time slot, the slot is assigned based on seniority.

Books and Materials:

You are required to bring blank fretboard diagrams. These can be printed off the web site or you may purchase a book of them. You are also responsible for bringing your own guitar picks, a spare set of strings, and a pen. If you need to play one of my guitars I need to know 24 hours in advance. You will progress faster on your own instrument.

Registration and Administrative Fees:

There are no registration, membership, or administrative fees.

Lesson Expiration and Refund Policy:

Lessons never expire. Neither do gift certificates. There will be no refunds for unused lessons under any circumstances, as you are welcome to pay lesson by lesson.

Canceling Classes:

Classes must be canceled 24 hours before the start of your scheduled lesson, or you will be charged for the time. You may either phone or e-mail. If you need to cancel in under 24 hours please phone.

Weekly students canceling last minute may reschedule in the next 3 days to avoid being charged for the lesson.

Monthly students have until the end of the calendar month or will lose prepaid lessons.

I cannot always guarantee a suitable replacement lesson time especially on short notice on short notice! But I will always make every attempt and am almost always able to figure something out with students.

Privacy Policy:

Personal information will not be shared, sold or rented with any other organization.

I was relieved to finally find somebody who had the skills and the patience to teach me to rock without making me feel like some silly girl trying to pick out Stairway to Heaven.

Letters from Students: Julie

I highly recommend Jay in helping you learn how to play...

"Rather than only memorizing the basics, he highly encouraged me to be as creative as possible in finding my own style, and writing my own original music from the very beginning"

Mike-R-Student"Seriously Awesome Guitar Teacher!"

"I took lessons from Jay for about 11 months (only stopped because career moved me to Boston) and learned more than I thought possible given my age / complete lack of dexterity.

"Best Guitar Teacher I've Ever Had‎!"

"He teaches all the little tricks professional guitarists know, but don't teach in books. These are the things that separate rock stars from amateurs. I knew nothing about playing guitar when I met Jay in December, and now I'm about three months away from starting my own band."
