If you gave a guitar as a gift to someone for a birthday or the holidays, or just know someone who really wants to play better, you might want to consider purchasing them some guitar lessons.

Or maybe getting them a guitar for their birthday or the holidays just seemed like a much better idea before you began hearing your significant other torture themselves (and you) by mangling Smoke on the Water or Guns ‘n’ Roses' Patience for the eight millionth time.

Being good at guitar is fun, struggling is not!

They can play better, have a great time doing it, and you'll hear a huge improvement in just four lessons.  Guitar and Piano are the two hardest instruments to learn, Guitar has the much steeper initial learning curve. It takes about a month to get the basic technique down so its instinctive, and they can advance from there.

Incorrect technique learned early on will eventually block their progress and will have to be unlearned and be replaced with the correct tequnique. In other words, go back to the beginning. This is about as much fun as hitting the giant slide in Chutes and Ladders was back when you were five.

Last Minute? No Problem!

I've been been one of San Francisco's most popular Guitar teachers for years, I'm used to getting last minute requests. I can create and e-mail you a PDF  of a personalized Gift Certificate usually that same night. Since I don't answer the phone while teaching and don't have a computer at my studio, simply send me a text saying "last minute gift certificate"  and I'll call you back ASAP.

To order, or for more information call me at (415)845-5471 or email me.

My lessons are perfect for anyone into rock, blues, metal, or singer-songwriter style music, whether on acoustic or electric. If you are buying someone a guitar for the holidays, I will go with you to guitar center, help you pick one out, and get you a discount. If you are interested in purchasing one, I am happy to meet you in person, show you my studio if you wish, and explain my teaching method to you. Or we can chat on the phone or by e-mail. If it is more convenient, I can alternatively e-mail a PDF file to print out as well. I no longer accept credit card payments, but I do accept payment in cash or by check or money order.

I highly recommend Jay in helping you learn how to play...

    Mike-R-Student"Seriously Awesome Guitar Teacher!"

"I took lessons from Jay for about 11 months (only stopped because career moved me to Boston) and learned more than I thought possible given my age / complete lack of dexterity.

"Best Guitar Teacher I've Ever Had‎!"

"He teaches all the little tricks professional guitarists know, but don't teach in books. These are the things that separate rock stars from amateurs. I knew nothing about playing guitar when I met Jay in December, and now I'm about three months away from starting my own band."
