Jay Skyler Guitar Lessons San Francisco classic rock style text logo Guitar Lessons SF: Guitar Chord and Scale Charts

In 2006 I began adding free guitar neck fretboard diagrams to the site so my students would always have instant access to them. I also made hi-resolution blank diagrams available for PDF Download. They were a mixture of vector illustrations and bitmap images and were as good as most books on the market. I decided not to password protect them, because I really feel this information should be available to every guitarist regardless of whether they lived in San Francisco or would ever take lessons from me. Well, people found them, they were incredibly popular, and I thank everyone for numerous thank you letters I received from around the world.

BlankposterAs Good Was Not Good Enough!

About two and a half years ago I decided my students should have access to a library of high resolution fretboard diagrams that would easily surpass the quality of any book or website. I began the insanely time consuming process of building a new library of diagrams that were 100% vector illustrations (meaning they can be resized to any size with no quality loss.) They were made available as PDFs to my students as I completed them. But now they are available on the site to everyone in PNG format:

Most of the stylistic improvements were actually functional. The gradient shading reduced printer ink use dramatically and the faux Led Zeppelin font... OK, there was really no reason for it other than me liking Led Zeppelin.

Of the original Fretboard diagrams only one error was ever discovered, in the blues scale of all things! So:

Thanks again to Craig Harris for spotting a misplaced blue note in the original Series 1 Blues Scale artwork!

Please let me know immediately if you spot an error in any part of this site! This resource become useless if it becomes inaccurate. And you get a little loopy putting dots on grids on a computer screen for hours on end.

The diagrams are free for personal use and (if you overlook the fact that this site is one massive ad for myself), ad and affiliate link free as well.
